When they upgrade Blackham for the IceGators, they should prepare the floor for ice hockey and basketball use.
Cajun basketball should be played at Blackham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know the website? I thought that SP said that it was icegatorhockey.com? tried that and icegatorshockey.com and I'm not getting anything.
Municipal Aud. was a dump the Brass played in but in hind site it was a much better site than the NO Arena. The Arena was to big and the Aud. had character. It is amazing to think of all the things that have gone on in that old building. I could seem the same thing happening at Blackham. It might be the best place for hockey in Lafayette.
It's supposedly going to be http://www.icegatorshockey.com/ The domain name has been purchased and is registered to a local web designer firm here in Lafayette. They haven't done anything with it, yet, so I don't know what's going on with it.
Season tickets are supposed to go on sale June 1st.
Even back when UL played there in the Bo Lamar days, it was considered a dump. I remember reading Sports Illustrated articles about games played at Blackham and their negative reference to the facility by opposing coaches, from the dressing rooms to the court. I did like the intimacy and closeness to the court. But, in today's world, it woudn't work. It would hurt recruiting and lower the level of athletics at UL. We have a great facility in the Dome. We just need to put out a winning product on the floor and start to fill the Dome. Lafayette and the Acadiana area is well large enough to average 10,000 - 12,000 per game. Far smaller university cities have that kind of attendance, so it is not too much to expect. It is up to UL to promote and field not only a winning team, but one that is fun to watch and appealing to the fans.
