Lackie all the way.
Lackie all the way.
Lackie has shown a lot of his potential the past few weeks. He has good stuff but needs to improve his control and command. No need to be worried. He has only been pitching since his sophomore year of high school.
He's got good genes: His dad, Jeff, was a third-round pick by the Baltimore Orioles in 1981 and threw five years in the minors.

I have complete confidence in Lackie becoming a Stud. Hopefully with these young arms, we can develop them into the starting dominant guys that we've enjoyed around here in recent years. I like Matt alot, and agree with your observation of his improvement lately. He's definitely shown flashes.
Mid-Weed? Lol.
Going into next year, give me Osborne, Wilborn and Robichaux in any order. If they can continue to improve going into next year, that would be a scary rotation. If you add in Cook, Lackie, Fuselier and some of the other younger arms, that would be a pretty deep pitching rotation.
I don't think you can give up on Wilborn. If he gets it together, he can be a dominant Friday or Saturday guy. IF he doesn't get drafted.
Of course, none of the above will matter if we can't field or hit.
I have a feeling that Robe, Osborne and Wilborn could get drafted this summer.
The pitching rotation could have a lot of different looks depending on the draft. I think Robe and Osborne are set for the weekend. Lackie, Cook, Wilborn and Fuselier could all throw Sunday.
Don't forget about RHP Garrett Larsen, a transfer from Navarro Junior College in Texas. He was picked in the 33rd round of the 2007 draft by Boston. Thrown only once this year because of ankle problem. Will apply and likely get medical redshirt.
Also there is LHP Taylor Hubbell, a transfer from Scottsdale Junior College in Arizona. A transcript problem at his old school left him ineligible this season, but he repaid his scholarship and was here on his own dime.
Both Larsen and Hubbell will be factors next year. There's also incoming signee Colton Daigle and one JUCO pitcher expected to sign in the near future.
If there are enough starters, maybe Robe moves back as the closer. If Robe stays a starter, I'd be interested to see if Marze gets a shot as the closer. (And I say that knowing that be has struggled.)
