While watching Milsap/Thomas/Davis do their thing in the NBA playoffs, I started to think about current/former NBA starters that came from Louisiana schools. Who was the last bonafide NBA starter or significant contributor off the bench from UL? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like it's been a while?

He came to us from Florida. Transfered. Played 2 solid years. I think he is over seas now. He was one of my favorite players of all time. Prototypical, big point guard. The glory days of Cajuns basketball *sigh*

Thanks. Now I remember him. From what I remember he was very athletic and I'm surprised he didn't stick in the NBA at least as a role player.

He probably would have, but got in some trouble off the court. Was suspended for one game for driving more than 90 mph down a street in surburban Boston about two months before getting released by the Celtics. Also spent short time with Pacers and Kings but got buried on depth chart. Played one year for the Australian Basketball Association's New Zealand Breakers. Now playing for My Guide team in Amsterdam.

Did Starks get a shot in the NBA? I think Southall would have had a great shot had he kept is nose clean.

Starks was in camp with the Heat and Jazz. Southall was with the Lakers summer league team but was hurt.

Mitchell is the best bet to make it. He was the last cut by the Lakers in training camp after a strong summer.

Isn't Southall still playing overseas at this time?

For significant playing time you might have to go back to Kevin Brooks.

For key component of a team you might have to go all the way back to Andrew Toney. And it has already been 20 years since his heyday.
