This is why I think its good JMU kept it close.
This is just how I see it. Both Tulane and JMU deserved to be in, and they earned that right. If one team gets boat‑raced, that’s one thing we can chalk it up as a mismatch. But if two teams get boat‑raced back‑to‑back, then the committee suddenly has an argument for never letting another Group of 5 or 6 program into the CFP. That’s the hypocrisy baked into the system: the door is only open until the cartel finds an excuse, built by the narrative and talking heads on ESPN on all these sports shows, to build a case to slam it shut. Its a conspiracy theory but its mine so.
They do not want us in there PERIOD.
They’re going to try just watch. I’ll bet the next narrative will be that Oregon pulled their starters in the 3rd quarter, when in reality it wasn’t until the 4th. And then they’ll spin it as if Oregon had the game won before halftime and JMU never deserved to be there in the first place!
It has already taken place!
We can chalk it up as a win the fact that two G5 got invited, but then the shoe drops, and then the big rug pull when none are allowed in the CFP.
Let me drop this, i know i am leaving alot out!
• Nick Saban: “Would we allow the winner of the Triple‑A baseball league in the World Series playoffs? That’s the equivalent of what we do when JMU gets into the College Football Playoff, and Notre Dame doesn’t.”
• Paul Finebaum: “They do not belong. There’s no reason to have schools like that in a playoff when you’re leaving home Notre Dame, BYU and Texas. … It’s wrong, but it’s politics.”
• Jordan Rodgers: “We can’t be doing a Make‑A‑Wish program with the College Football Playoffs and just adding teams because we feel like they should deserve it.”
• Jesse Palmer: “I’m fine with one Group of Five team making it … but as a fan, I want to see the other 11 teams that have a legitimate chance of winning a National Championship. … I don’t know if James Madison really does.”
• Joe Tessitore: “This has been a completely non‑competitive game. If this were Notre Dame, what kind of game would we have had?”
• Sports Illustrated (Albert Breer): “Ole Miss 41, Tulane 10. Oregon 34, James Madison 6 … at the half. Main thing: Football isn’t basketball. There’s no need for this. … What we’re getting is just dumb.”
• Athlon Sports (fan backlash coverage): “Tulane played football today in the sense that they put on uniforms and went onto a football field today. This game was an atrocity.”
• Bud Elliott (CBS Sports, Cover3 Podcast): “Tulane and JMU being in are charity to avoid getting sued… I hate the idea that you can have zero wins over a top‑FIFTY team and make the playoff. Preposterous.
