Snooty Pac 12 presidents chose allowing their conference to disintegrate over inviting some combination of Boise, BYU, or San Diego St.

This map below is the reality of why the PAC teams moved east. No relevant audience exists after 11 PM EST. Texas Tech is the western most CST program.

Our CFO is still not sold on UL being R1. I’m not sure he knows what R1 means and how it has impacted us. I think he wants us to be like UNO. Maybe under LSU??
I don't know what's going on inside the head of our CFO, but I know that he was brought in for one specific reason: to balance our budget. R1 is obviously a great goal, but not if maintaining that status makes the university insolvent.

With that said, our new interim president (and likely future president) was the man who was most responsible for getting us to R1. He will be fighting harder than anyone to stay R1.

Not sure how a past prez of a university can be blamed for mismanagement regarding future budget issues outside of their control...perhaps they thoyght they items would be renewed?

In 2026, Louisiana will face a significant "fiscal cliff" due to the expiration of a temporary sales tax increase, the repeal of the corporate franchise tax, and the sunset of several tax credits, resulting in an estimated annual revenue loss.
Key expiring or changing tax revenues in 2026 include:
Temporary Sales Tax: A temporary state sales tax increase from 4% to 4.45% (part of the overall sales tax which recently increased temporarily to 5% with other changes) is set to expire, leading to an estimated annual reduction of approximately $400 million in revenue. This expiration is a primary cause of the projected budget shortfall.
Corporate Franchise Tax: The state's corporate franchise tax will be fully repealed for tax periods beginning on or after January 1, 2026. This repeal is a major part of recent tax reform efforts but removes a current revenue stream.

Well, I think we ought to fire the marketing *genius* who came up with the "Our Town, Our Team" campaign. It would work if we were branding as "Lafayette" instead of "Louisiana". Otherwise, it works against our athletic branding efforts. Our State, Our Team is more like it.

It was just meant as a message to our local LSU sidewalk tiggah fans.
If we could convert half of them there would be a waiting list for season tickets in every sport
