Because we are trying to use the same model of funding that LSU does. Except we don’t have the demand.
We need outside the box funding. It is there for the taking and could revolutionize this university into one of the leaders amongst the G5. We just aren’t in a position to do so because we don’t have the people capable of having any vision. Especially without a university president in place.

I would love to see a Petition to End Taxpayer Funding for LSU Athletics Projects
If our state’s flagship university can afford to spend more than $60 million to hire a new football coach — on top of paying buyouts for former staff — then it’s time to question why taxpayers are still footing the bill for athletic facility improvements through Capital Outlay or any other public funding mechanism.
Taxpayer dollars should prioritize education, infrastructure, and community needs, not subsidize athletic programs that already operate with massive budgets and private revenue streams. It would be great to see someone put pressure on our elected officials to end the use of public funds for LSU's athletic purposes and demand better accountability for how our tax dollars are spent.
