Or they dont want us to have those 'aspirations'....

In addition to consolidating academic campuses that are duplicative, why couldnt teams be combined and build a series of g5 all star teams to try and compete against the big boys.... rather than fighting each other fpr diminishing funds

Next story idea: LSU A&M paying $56 million to a coach not to coach, buying out another, yet still drawing Capital Outlay dollars for athletics.

That story not in their budget

We have unused property around the athletic campus that can be leased and developed into an entertainment district with a revenue stream and we leave it vacant. Haven't we ever learned anything? The university is supposed to be an educator yet can't effectively manage itself.
But when it increases enrollment, does it increase quality of student? Dont think we got R1 based off of students that choose where to apply based on sports teams

Some of the reporter's assertions are absurd. However, I don't mind the reporter digging into the facts and $ figures of what was presented. Good to be informed of where things stand compared to 2014. IMO, what would be informative is seeing a trend line of revenues/expenses beginning in 2011 thru 2019. 2020-21 were COVID years when attendance was restricted. Then 2022 thru 2024 trendline. The reader would be able to make a fair assessment of how good or bad certain revenue & cost centers are trending relative to peers. The writer had a good idea to shine a spotlight on deficit spending but got lazy leaving out relevant information.

We never see this type of article about LSU football.

The Tigers have historically under-performed, spent millions of dollars on buyouts, wasted millions on athletes that have under-performed, and don't even get me started on academics.

LSU is the biggest waste of tax dollars in higher education, but we have never seen a hit piece from Geoff Daily or The Current about that.

We ALWAYS see this type of hit piece when money gets tight... but it is never about the wasteful behemoth in Refineryville.

They’ve won 3 football national championships in the last 25 years while playing for another one. They’ve had 2 heisman winners in 4 years. Their baseball team has won natties 2 of the last 3 years. Their women’s basketball won a natty a few years ago. While I agree somewhat that this is a hit piece, the people of louisiana(not all) live and die by lsu sports. They feel like they get a ROI with their tax dollars and NIL/TAF contributions. They had a hit piece about the lsu library years ago and people were like so what we got Jeaux burreaux !!! Of course the mindset will be different concerning lsu. They are arguably the premier brand in all of college sports and are a walking cash cow.

    What's their D.P.W. investment.

UL needs to have goals if they are ever going to match the DPW threshold.
