I did think Lunch was about to go full Brian Mitchell Superman mode on that game winning touchdown run. His hurdle was still awesome…

I think this is biggest weakness as far as winning, he’s probably too loyal to starters. I guess I’d rather too loyal than not loyal enough, but I think it does cost us.

I think loyalty is very important, especially in this age of the transfer portal. Without money, the only hope of keeping key players if they have belief that the coaching staff truly has their best interest at heart.

I don't remember the result of Des play in that game, or the year it happened.

    I know Babb could throw.

470 yards vs Middle Tennessee. Then Bustle made him play Bustle Ball.
Babb is one of the most underrated players we've ever had here. He was legit dual threat. That triple option offense with Booker Jenkins at FB and Fenroy along with Babb running the ball was tough to stop and then Babb could beat you in the air. Too bad the defense was swiss cheese.

If we're not going to have a deeply talented roster like Napier put together, that Bustle era offense is what we should be running here all the time. In the age of NIL/Portal, we will never be able to stockpile talent like Napier/Hud did.

I agree, and said as much. But you can take it too far when it comes time to sit a starter for non performance.

Exactly. We can get running QBs and RBs here in Louisiana by the boatload. Also most defenses are geared around stopping the most common offense of the era. And now it’s the spread/rpo.

you mean Napier for the most part inherited?

The problem with that system is it didn't win games. Desormeaux not being able beat teams through the air is why the best we did with it was 6-6. I don't think we need to run a high school offense, we just need a true dual-threat behind center. Someone that's not just good at running downfield but shifty enough to be able to extend plays in order to beat teams with his arm.
