SB: Portal is open

The softball portal is now open. There are 287 on the list at the moment. Conference breakdown:

Appalachian State - 6
Coastal Carolina - 2
Georgia Southern - 1
Georgia State - 1
James Madison - 2
Southern Mississippi - 4
Texas State - 1
Troy - 12

No Cajuns in the portal...yet.

That is not an official number. By tomorrow, there will probably be as many as 1,000. The Cajuns need about five of them. Five players who can drive the ball and hit for power. That way the Cajuns can get away from playing the type of small ball they were forced to play this year. Which five players do they go after?

The list on D1 Softball is not official. The good folks there list girls who have announced their intent to go into the portal on social media. The 48 hours is the period between when the player officially informs her school of her intent to leave and when the school puts her name in the portal.

Any other numbers you see now are unofficial as well; the portal opens officially today.

Wouldnt that lead you to think the number is way higher. He couldnt possible know every player's twitter/social, or have time to sort through them all, and some might not have announced that way???

I am concerned about Emily Smith. I know someone mentioned that she wants to stay and build the program back up but someone could offer her big $$$ that she couldn't say no to.
