When I worked there, certain sports were required (MBB and WBB for sure). Not sure if that’s still the case, but it would be virtually impossible to be a D1 school and not have it.

Men’s basketball NCAA tournament $$ from the CBS contract continues to be a huge component of conf revenue sharing, and to miss out on that would be disastrous.

Could make argument that having a successful MBB program is more important than FB honestly, especially in certain parts of the country.

Replace men's golf with men's soccer. Done.

Soccer is the future, especially in the south.

We have a great opportunity to start a men's program and be in the best conference in men's college soccer.
    Why would you not?
    Yep.

We have a golden opportunity here.

Soccer has as much of a future down here as hockey.

Roster size difference between soccer and golf is big (need a lot more scholarships for soccer than golf). Not to mention staffing differences, medical costs, travel, facilities, etc.

There’s a reason men’s soccer is sponsored by a small amt of schools.

40 years ago, Softball was like water skiing. It was a novelty. Look at it now. It is a top 4 or 5 sport at many universities across America. If we were trying to start a Softball program from scratch right now, we would never be able to build something like we have.

Soccer is going to grow just like Softball has. This can't be stopped. We either get in on the ground floor now like we did with Softball or we will be trying to play catch up a few decades from now with no chance to build anything good.
