Well, Rogers is a nice guy who hasn't a clue, but lost, and Arrow is not a nice guy and has a clue on how to be a jerk.

    Rogers in a photo finish.....

You mean recommendations? Anytime. (pssst... try Couyon's BBQ)

With no monitor on the sideline for the refs to review, the home crowd will end up going home very disappointed. I just don't understand why any school with the capability wouldn't want this feature to keep things as fair as possible. _
Again, we do not need a monitor. We have a big screen the refs can look at.
If they cannot make a determination from the big board, the play should probably not be overturned.

Again, according to the rules, the refs aren't allowed to use the "big board" for replay. If you don't have the capability, then it's obviously a mute point. Having said that, the radio program made it sound as if they do have the equipment available.

The rule is that the only acceptable mode of review is through a courtside monitor on the same side as the scorer's table.

Even if someone showed the ref video of indisputable evidence of the shot coming after the buzzer, he could not have changed the call unless he saw it through a little monitor on the scorer's table.

Thank you. I'm not trying to slam your school if they don't have a monitor. Having said that, I just don't know why any school wouldn't utilize the monitor if they have one available. It seems like a rather petty piece of equipment that can drastically change the outcome of a game.

This make no sense. If there is a close play in the Super Bowl am I going to shut off my HDTV and run into my sons room to see it on a small non-HD monitor?
Oh well, I hate instant replay anyway. What is more boring than watching a guy in a striped shirt look at a monitor? If I were commisioner of the NCAA I would have no instant replay in any sport.

This is a good conversation topic.

    2 schools of thought:

    1. Replay allows the right call to be made (almost) every time. Championships should not be decided by a bad call. Especially when it's obvious.
    2. Replay makes referee's to take the easy way out on calls. It leads to "failsafe" gamecalling. That leads to even worse officiating, which replay is supposed to help with.

Whether it makes sense or not, that is the rule. It's the same way in football, you never see the refs looking at the jumbotron. I have mixed feelings when it comes to Instant Replay. However, I don't like the idea of it being available for some games and not others. If you are going to have instant replay, then make it mandatory for every D-I game. I've seen the monitors, and we aren't talking about a lot of money here.

Like you so wisely pointed out, it's a "mute" point.
