Moot point, my apologies. I'm sure you were excited to point that out considering that I'm associated with LSU. Regardless, it could play a huge factor in a lot of situations (both for and against the home team). It was important enough to discuss on local radio, but I guess it's not pertinent enough to discuss on a local message board.

If they cannot make a determination from the big board, the play should probably not be overturned. _
I believe Coach Lee said on his show that the refs were not allowed to look at the big board. They are only allowed to look at courtside monitors-if they are present. Coach Lee said he thought the lack of monitor problem should be solved as the call cd have gone the other way-though Jay pointed out if the call had gone the other way-against the home team-there wd have been more replays on the big board.

Lee did what he should have done-get his team off the court. The other coach did what was expected-was ____ed and fought for his team. Gather he went too far and made an _____ of himself-but I'd imagine any coach under the circumstances wd have at least been ____ed.

It sounds like he agrees with several people in this thread that have brought up the same exact point.

    2 schools of thought:

    1. Replay allows the right call to be made (almost) every time. Championships should not be decided by a bad call. Especially when it's obvious.
    2. Replay makes referee's to take the easy way out on calls. It leads to "failsafe" gamecalling. That leads to even worse officiating, which replay is supposed to help with. _
Replay sucks. I love when they challenge the spot of the ball! The spot is never right. It's alway arbitrary!

If they are going to have it each team should have 1 challenge, thats it. It's a game played by humans. Mistakes are made on every play.

The visiting coach allowed his emotions to get the best of him after a tough loss...understandable, but not a good excuse for a poor display of sportsmanship.

Is there a good reason not to have a monitor when one appears to be available....NO.

I think loss in the outcome and the coaches fit is the question of how a player catches a ball passed to him when he is looking back toward his goal, takes 4 to 5 dribbles, and puts up a jump shot that leaves his fingers all within 2.4 secs. Not that in matters...just interesting.

And before anyone leaps on me, I well know that interesting things take place everywhere.

Fair enough, I'm not really sure how I managed to mix up the two words.

Someone called in to BEV about that. Apparently the clock does not start when a player touches the ball. It starts when the ref drops his arm. Now, in theory this all happens simultaneously (possession, arm drop, clock start).

So the clock operator isn't even looking at the ball, just the ref.

    Daigle sure can dribble fast...

If Lee were canned after this season, would you entertain the idea of bringing in Mark Gottfried? He had moderate success at Alabama, but nothing much to brag about as of late.

Looking at his record, what he did at alabama and murray state warrants a serious look from us. The question...as it always is...are we willing to pay quality money to get a quality product?
