_ The visiting coach allowed his emotions to get the best of him after a tough loss...understandable, but not a good excuse for a poor display of sportsmanship.

Is there a good reason not to have a monitor when one appears to be available....NO.

I think loss in the outcome and the coaches fit is the question of how a player catches a ball passed to him when he is looking back toward his goal, takes 4 to 5 dribbles, and puts up a jump shot that leaves his fingers all within 2.4 secs. Not that in matters...just interesting.

And before anyone leaps on me, I well know that interesting things take place everywhere. _

I know the clock keeper for all LSU home games very well. Without a doubt, a clock keeper has quick hands or slow hands based on "his" team's circumstances. I am not making any accusation. This is a fact of college basketball, has been for decades... everywhere the game is played. There are home court advantages and that is one of them. However, Daigle's catch, dribbling and shot were a whole lot faster than you probably think.

The monitor at courtside is a definite plus IMO... not required... easily supplied... simply not always done.

He has won nearly 600 career games. He has won three junior college national titles, four regular season conference titles and three conference tournament championships.

He also made four trips to the NCAA Tournament. That included two during his first stint at South Alabama, one at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and again last season when he returned to South Alabama.

In no way do his accomplishments make his behavior acceptable the other night. But the guy knows how to coach. _

I have to somewhat agree with you. I doubt the clock keeper was sitting there just dying to push the button. I'm willing to bet that there was some minute delay, but I guess that's the benefit of home court advantage and prolly would have happened and happens at any team's home court. Bottom line is that the courtside monitor would not have overturned the shot.

Ask him bout the Tennessee game 20 yrs or so ago when the LSU clock operator had a brain fart with 8 secs to go in the game and failed to start the clock for 2 to 3 secs on an in bounds play and we loss on a put back at the buzzer. lol

Chit happens everywhere. You either overcome it or you don't.

Daigle made a great play. I take nothing away from his effort.

I was a freshman at LSU and was at that game! (Does that mean I'm old???) I was sitting low in the student section which was on the direct opposite end of the field from where the action was. We could just see all of those rebel flags waving and then suddenly drop. That's when we knew it was a TD. A couple of months later, I was in Blackham for the final run of the Shipley Express!

What an absolute joke of a coach, mentor and man. I feel sorry for the players on his team. There are other ways to voice your disapproval. What an embarrassment to South Alabama.
