When you work in Lafayette every day and listen to local radio, questions tend to arise. Like I said in another thread, my wife and most of her family graduated from UL-Lafayette. My father in-law played baseball there and his family were very involved at one point in time. I lived in Lafayette for nearly a decade and also have a lot of good friends that went to school there. I'm not some random LSU fan trying to flame your board.
The sound of the horn and the release of the ball is what the Ref. looks for. Not the clock above the basket. The horn is in sink with the clock. When the clock says "00:00" the horn goes off. The Ref knew there was only 2.4 second left on the game clock so you can bet he had his eyes on the shooters hands and the ball...
UL is known for taking the easy way out. This is the school that thought it was ok to not have a website for a year. If the NCAA doesn't require it there is no way this school will go the extra mile. Besides with a new NBA video board who needs sideline monitors.
This arguement is baseless. We don't need a crappy monitor. We have a giant jumbotron. We have all seen several footage accounts of the shot...all showed it was before the horn. The USA coach was just being a poor sport.
