  NEW ORLEANS - The Louisiana Supreme Court has thrown out a defamation and breach of contract suit brought by a college basketball coach fired just months after he was hired.

UL had a valid reason to fire Glynn Cyprien and did not defame him when it accused him of resume fraud, the high court ruled Wednesday.

The university had appealed a district judge's ruling that Cyprien should get a trial of his lawsuit against its athletic director and the governing board for the University of Louisiana System.

Cyp's contention is that he gave Schex a CORRECTED resume? Gee, if that is the case he DIDN'T QUALIFY for employment at the university in the 1st place. RIGHT COACH? So what's the beef? His argument is moot.

His claim was that the submission was not intentional?

OK, coach, what about the submissions to other universities listing a DIFFERENT year of graduation and listing UTSA as a place where you PLAYED basketball? WHICH YOU NEVER DID AT THAT SCHOOL!

The court did its homework here.

The next thing we're going to hear is that his lawyer called Obama for a bailout due to exptemely bad decisions in his law practice. Seems this cost him a ton of money and hopefully, he stands to lose bigtime on another case with another UL former coach as well.

Given the current state of men's basketball at UL, I can't help but wonder what things would be like if UL had accepted his corrected transcript and he would have been our bball coach these past few years. I can't imagine we would be as bad as we are now, but we'll never know.

I believe it is a state law or at least a UL System requirement that he have an acredited degree. Since he did not have that at the time he could not be the head here or at any other public university in Louisiana. So don't start blaming UL or the Admin for not accepting the resume, they had no choice.

No one is to blame here but Cyprien, he is the one who made up that resume with the false claims of a degree. Like George O'Leary before him he lied on his resume and payed the price for it.
