We will hire another coach one day. It will not occur following a season in which a conferene championship (regular season or tournament) has been won. Can someone tell me when or where that has occurred previously. It may have somewhere. I don’t recall that happening anywhere other than when the coach retires or off the court issues are a problem. As CajunT said, people who make those decisions have a different perspective than fans.

I'm just worried where all those double-doubles that left for Memphis are going to be replaced....

Lamar is a shell of its former self. After the Key/Davis/Olivier crew finished in ‘83, made 2 NCAA appearances since…2000 and 2012. 16th seed and a first four playin.

I’d love for things to be different schedule wise. But at least we’re not in the shape Tech (32 year streak) Lamar (11 year streak) UNO (6 year streak preceded by 21 years) and McNeese (21 year streak, only one other appearance, ‘89) are. Yeah, McNeese got WW, but that desperation move won’t last long. Will be back sucking in a few years.

Just off the top of my head, Gregg Popovich in the NBA level and Buzz Williams in college. I’m sure I could do some research and get a lot more but those are two examples of very successful coaches who did not play the game past high school. Also Roy Williams played jv basketball in college.

2 separate coaches. One overall went to the big dance with Lamar 2 out of 7 years and the other 2 out of 6 years. Marlin has been 2 out of his last nine. Obviously not as good, but not exactly pathetic either. (P.s. BP was 2/8)

Also in 1982, the last year ncaa tournament only had 48 teams, only 16 teams from modern day P5 schools made it, compare that to today, seems the increase in total slots mostly went to the big boys. From 33 pct or less to 50pct or more

Well we didn't exactly succeed last time we fired a coach (who did deserve it) yet resulted in how much money spent on lawsuits?
