We left the Southland Conference in basketball due to football going independent in order to remain Division 1. We eventually became a part of the American South Conference which formed in the late 80's. I think 91-92 is the year we became part of the SBC. Either way, you are correct in that Bobby did not support that move and was one reason he went to South Florida. He also received a substantial pay raise which probably had more impact on the decision than anything else.

People will find every meaningless excuse for this decision. That buyout amount speaks volumes. He'll be the coach until he retires or dies. This university LOVES status quo. No work required.

The details of the contract are different than the extension decision in and of itself. When I said there was little choice, I was solely referring to the extension decision itself. I was not referring to what is in the contract. Note, full buyout would be 1.5 million after next season. It is 40 percent of that no. Personally, I don't agree that a change would not be made if there are two losing seasons in a row. That is true anywhere and they know that. I will say this, let's not assume that the team can't have success again this year. Many had that view last year and the team proved them wrong.

No doubt , I hear you. Got some feelers out there.

    Coaching Experience
    High School - 13 Years
    ABA - 2 Years
    TBT - 2 Years ( Coached All Pros )
    NCAA - 2 Years ( Lee Era 2006 & 2007 )
    AAU - 20 Years
Biddy - 15 years, the league now has over 1200 kids annually, all future Cajun Fans. Same program that BM has told his players not come around because of his relationship with me. 1200 Families all have basketball in common and you tell your players not to come around. No wonder we have no kids from the area that are fans of the programs and only 2000 people come to games. When I played every kid in the city knew me and most of the roster, 20 years later every basketball kid in the city still knows me.

I will get more experience and stay grinding.

still 600000 after 2 years. this team had nba talent at center. who thought they couldnt win?? no opinion on if they can win or not next season but based on bobs history we are in for 17 to 19 wins. just cant comprehend how people are defending this contract

I don't recall the details but I think buyout drops to 400 K after the 2nd year and 200K after the third year. Compensation is something I am uncomfortable discussing due to the attitude my employer fostered in us. I understand a coach is in a different situation and the information is public.

It, the extension, is meaningless to most coaches trying to get a job as head coach. We could have just let the contract expire except for the language calling for an extension and gotten dozens of qualified applicants.

This was all about T Joe, and Maggard being happy with Bob, and they should just come out and say that.

I was just responding to the point that you were making when you mentioned Paschal losing to Lamar a certain number of times. My point was that we lost to a team that was very good back then. It wasn't like losing to them today. That would be a lot more frowned upon based on the circumstances of both programs.

the inconvenient truth. when the coAD goes out and lies to the public by saying marlin had a 75 percent winning percentage you know something is amiss

Gary needs to hire you once your daughter enters college and you can take over the woman's team then move on to the men's team.
