Jay, I have no reason to disagree with any of your three assertions. And, like you, I trust Dr. Maggard immensely. I think Dr. Maggard is an excellent AD . . . one of the best G5 ADs in the country (if not the best). With that being said no one is infallible. So the decision isn't right simply because that's the one he makes. We'll know if the coaching decision was right several years from now.

There are examples of internal promotions going really well (e.g., Brad Stevens at Butler). And there are also examples of internal promotions going really poorly.

All I know is.....there were tons of "In Maggard I trust" comments....until Des' name came up. LOL

If hiring from within is the only way to keep most of this staff together, including Toney, I could get on board with this.

We don't want retreads. We don't need splash hires. We need what is best for the cULture.

I trust Maggard. And if he selects Des, I will be surprised, but certainly couldn't say it was the wrong hire. Especially given the fact that all of us will not know what candidates and information Maggard had at his disposal.

My only quibble with your statement is that I don't agree the hire is the right one merely because it's the one Maggard makes.

1. Personal opinion, Mike needs other experience.

2. If Dr. Maggard thinks he is ready, I'm 100% on board.

3. Lot's of yo yo's on other fan boards thought Napier wasn't ready for LSU or Florida. We know him better, and therefore know better.

4. Maggard and CBN know Dezmo better, and therefore know better than us if he is ready.

5. I still doubt it's him, I'm guessing a smokescreen to keep us occupied.

Yea, I think everyone here still completely trusts Dr. Maggard, even with a MD promotion.
