You 100% right we will never know what Jake could have done in a pass happy offense.

I am happy with Brees on the Saints! He is the best man for the current job.

But I don't think it is OK to say because I am happy with where I am, I can't look at where I could have been.

I'm still upset UL didn't hire Paul "Bear" Bryant!

If Brees is so damn great he should overcome the inadequicies of the players around him. If you dont remember the Panthers were possibly the worst NFL team the year before Jake got there.

WOW! Maybe Brees should have worked with Jason David last year so he wouldn't get torched every few play. He also should have followed Charles Grant around so he wouldn't eat that 10th Big Mac. Brees does not play Defense. Look at the rankings. The years Jake has been successful is the years their defense has been stoudt.

Umm... Brees is better than Jake. In fact, there is not a QB that is playing better than Drew right now. I understand that there were some bad years that I wish Jake would be been a Saint, but if you ask me today who I want under center, I don't hesitate for a second.

Jake and Brees have 1 thing in common. They make recievers better.

Last year when Jake went down he was the 2nd highest rated QB in the NFL. Granted it was only after 3 games but he was on a roll. Another "we will never know."

I know this, it isn't a fluke when you take 1 team to the Super Bowl, 1 team to the NFC Championship. And then lead the NFC in QB ratings.

Everyone knew that this year would be rusty for him. Time will tell.

In a way Brees has gone through some of the same things Jake has. Marty S. never needed to draft a QB #1 when he had Drew Brees on his roster. But at the time, who knew?

I will argue that Des did more for his team than Jake did, BUT no way will I say that Des was the better QB.

The 800 pound gorilla in this whole discussion is "System"

Jake, Brees, and Desormeax are all in a system that fits them very well. I don't think any would do AS WELL in the others system. For instance I don't think Jake or Brees could do what Desormeaux is doing, "In this system."

I do have a feeling (and it's only a feeling) Jake could move from one system to the next with the most freedom. . . . he did rush for 86 yards vs Carolina in 1999. And on a personal level he did out perform Brady in a SuperBowl.

Funny how you want to blame last year on David. Did you forget Brees had 9 interceptions and only 1 TD the first 4 games of the year?

Keep Brees, I'll take Delhomme any day, he may not be pretty but he knows how to win in the end!

i agree, i was making the point that in the biggest team sport there is, that you cant say that bowl games makes a better player. This is not tennis or golf where one person can decide the fate of an entire team. Look, i like jake and i think he is a really good QB but to say i would rather have him than drew brees is rediculous. Which outside of breaux bridge the entire nation would agree including panther fans. even before jake got hurt he and jon fox were on the hot seat.
