I'd love to know the real story on this guy.
Like, how do you go from having offers from Alabama(Saban) and aTm, then not signing with anyone, then announcing the week before practice starts that you're playing for UL.
That's a lot of blanks that need filling there.
Still, he looks like a good talent.
If we can, he should be redshirted, but he still should be ready to go if Fenroy goes down, bite my tongue.
I sure hope the best for Deon, he is a great guy I have spoken to him many times. No doubt we will miss him if he decides to move on, but wow he is a top notch runningback.
I would think he wanted to play, he wanted to get a chance to start. He knew he was good and he figured he was good enough to be able to wait til the end and that these guys would still offer him. Not the case, he just wasn't quite as good as some of the other runningbacks. Look at Alabama, they offered him but they ended up signing 4 other runningbacks all ranked above Walker. He knew he might not get the chance to start because these big schools are very competitive. Turns out he waited too long and ended up with slim pickings. Then he decided to wait til the end of the summer in hopes that a few better schools would come back to him, I guess he figured if he waited that long it wouldn't be any worse. UL comes around and gets a steal. This guy will be a HUGE help in rebuilding this program. Just you wait and see.
Notice his quote on scout.com, the new facilities are already beginning to make an impact. This is just fantastic.
I'm disappointed about the word (or probability of the word) on Deon... but really excited about Yobes. I am as shocked as you are about this late, great event. But unlike you, I don't need to have the "blanks" filled in any better than provided. I'm accepting the story... the news is just too good... I think it may just be a case of Yobes wait and see, coupled with Hurley Brown's solid recruiting capability.
I have a feeling redshirting was one of the "no-gos" in Yobes resume. He wants playing time, starting his true freshman year... understands he's competing for time behind Fenroy... and fully expects to groom into the starting RB for his sophmore year. I really like the footage on Yobes. Some of it just looked like a guy who knew how to find daylight... but much of it showcased quickness off the snap, useful speed, and I especially like his instinct to cut back across the block and hunt for seams.
Very exciting news...
Sweet north south jig jab jaunt
You're right. If it is true that Wallace is gone, we need Yobes this year.
From his video, I like the fact that he hits the hole with authority, shows great cutback vision, doesn't dance and go nowhere, looks tough to bring down. He may not have much top end speed, but I don't care.
Looks like he can eat up yards and move the chains.
I know that they are different in styles BUT---does anybody remember Dion's tape---MY Lord he was good!!!!!
