First of all I agree with you. "No way it's academics." No way.

Second the irony is thick because an acronym of academics is "cicadas."

You know, that "perennial" bug that makes an appearance ever decade and a half.

And when that bug hits, I hear all the boundary rules for Little League Baseball are out the window.

Bottom line, we have not had a guy that was money inside 40-45 for a long time, and could attempt 50+ with some level of hope.

And UGA's kicker was money all year until the announcers put the "hasn't missed" curse on him in the first quarter.
Actually, if you go back, we've had some very good kickers. Drew Edmiston was very consistent, as was Comiskey. We struggled with a couple. Tyler Albrecht started great but regressed and lost his job to a young kid named Baer.

Here are the FG stats from 2011 on

    2011: Baer 18-20, 2012: Baer 20-23; 2013: Brauchle 8-13; 2014: Stover 18-22; 2015: Artigue 8-15 (two other kickers named Bird and Alvarez were 3-3); 2016: Artigue 19-24; 2017: Artigue 10-14; 2018: Pfau 15-18.

We'll have a guy next year that's dependable. Of that, I am sure.

I saw a local high school Sr make kicks of 42 and 52 yards on Friday night. The kid appears to have a college leg.

Remember that they are allowed to use a tee in high school, I think. Makes a difference.
