Thread: Is UL Attendance Really That Bad!

Louisiana S-Club UCLA Giving Away Tickets to Game vs OU

"UCLA is trying everything to get fans in the stands Saturday.

According to a tweet, the Bruins are offering four free tickets to fans that attended UCLA's season opener against San Diego State last week."

Looks like we're not the only program with attendance problems.

I heard about this on a Houston sports show just now. The host commented that while college football has probably never been more popular, the combinations of longer games due to commercials, rising ticket prices, concession prices, and now larger Home TVs, access, no bathroom lines at home, etc just naturally makes more people want to enjoy games at their home.

People are revolting, Chip Kelley won't last the rest of the season.

Yes, some are more revolting than others though.

College football is an extremely watered down version of the NFL that offers very few compelling matchups each week...unless you are into gambling. The pageantry and traditions have slowly been removed to give more access to networks and their advertisers. Also, the new cost basis can only be justified if you have a top 20 team. With 130 teams, most programs have little to play for by the time the leaves change colors. I would expect attendance to continue its downward trajectory outside of the perennial powers.

Well, apparently UL and plenty of others aren’t going to survive on that...
