one thing that sucks is with the red on the field it shows how bad all the othere red in the stadium is faded.

I actually went down the tunnel and onto the field this afternoon. The new turf is incredibly vivid. The Vermilion Red with the Evangeline White on a forset green turf with black accents in truly maginficent. And the view coming down the tunnel has been transformed. One of the improvements that need to be addressed, however, is the faded and chipping paint on the walls of the tunnel. Although the fans do not see the blistered red paint on the walls of the tunnel, this is one of the first impressions of opposing players in entering Cajun Field. It would be a shame to have a first class playing surface and have to walk through an eye-sore to get to it. If you cannot take pride in your house, how can you expect to defend it!
The new turf is absolutely magnificent and is a great start. Cajun Field can and should be transformed into the pride of the athletic department. Is it just me or can anyone else smell football?
I'm catching a wiff of it, and I'm getting really hungry. I'm pleased with the look of the field. Yep... it's a fact... the vivid colors of the field are going to dramatically amplify the contrasting drab colors in the rest of the stadium. It's just like with life... when you fix one flaw... it just makes the next flaw rise in priority.
I don't know if anyone is aware of damage to the press box that happen during the tornados that hit the area a few weeks back. I found out that the damage is about $500,000.00--They are seeing if insurance will cover the damage. It is to the roof area support. As for as the wall being painted, I think that Mike Baker and Acme could donate the bricks and get about 10 volunteer brick laying crews and they can get it done in about a week or two. Could be done before the first home game...I know, wishful thinking.
Hey Frenchie, did they only get one end zone done, or are both complete now??
One end zone is complete. The other is being cut out right now.
It's probably water because the tunnel was painted the year before the black wall. It could be painted but I doubt they would fork over the money for the right paint for that application. (about $85.00 per gallon)
If they cover the wall with brick, the water will seep through the brick and turn it white (it's called efflorecence). The mortar will eventually deteriorate.
I think I saw in one of Frenchies photos of the concrete border a fairly large differential movement at a joint in the wall. I think it was on the student side. That is not a good thing. I remember walking on the student side and noticed that the joints in the stadium were not sealed. This allows water under the concrete. I'm thinking (hoping) there is a drain behind the wall and hoping it is functioning properly. If not there is hydrostatic pressure building up behind the wall causing it to tilt in towards the field. Just a guess on my part though without a close look.
Just came from the field. They are working on the south end zone. they may finish it tonight but I dought it. They are working on putting the white trim on the letters for the north side. They will place them in the end zone tonight I am guessing. Then tomorrow night start gluing it down which will bring them into July 2nd. They have not started triming the turf around the cement boarder and securing it. That will take a day or two They plan to sweep the field after the south end zone is finish and start laying in the silicon sand. It looks like they are working on different projects jumping from one thing to another trying to get it through on the 5th. Like laying the sand before everything is through. (rushing the job)....IMO
