I realize that coaches who stay at the same University throughout their career while passing up more lucrative jobs are very rare. Coach Robe was obviously one of these coaches as he no doubt had opportunities for bigger contracts throughout the years but chose to stay at UL. One of many reasons Cajun Nation was blessed to have Robe as a Coach at UL.
Does anyone have an idea what Degg’s dream job is? If he has success here to the point of getting to Omaha while earning nearly $500k / year coaching a Top 25 program will he stay put at UL or does he have aspirations to Coach in the SEC?
Robichaux was one in a million! I am not saying that a coach shouldn’t take a better job opportunity if the opportunity is afforded to him/her.
Robichaux found a place where he wanted to be and made a legacy, his name will be remember as long as Cajun Baseball is around. To me that is a person of integrity, and knew what was important. Which is very rare these days, and you will almost never find in today’s society.
He rewarded us with loyalty, loyalty to the fan base, his players, the community, the school and to his baseball team.
Now it’s time for the University to reward Robichaux ! The University needs to erect a Robichaux Memorial with a statue in his honor.
I have ZERO inside info but just on evaluation I'd think the following.... a. Degg's is past worrying about what he gets paid. It isn't about money for him. He was making enough at SH and is making enough at UL to keep he and the family in a comfortable position. b. Coastal Carolina won it all and he believes he can do the same here.
So..... family, home, and past..... I'd have to believe that the Texas A&M job would be the one that would hold out a big interest for him. Of course that is all based on status quo. Things change...
Mon freres I just watched the video again. Maggard seemed emotionally gutted. I feel for him.
