I grew up in New Orleans. Mom and dad love coffee wife drinks 3 cups a day. I hate the smell and taste of the stuff.
My grandma Ville Platte Cajun Soileau. Now my mother a victim of English language in school always said coffee milk. So I'm not buying your facts as universal.
I learned my French listening to them speaking to each other and others. They spoke nothing but English to my brother and myself. Being bilingual wasn't viewed as an asset in mid 20th century by many.
