I was deprived of parent/grandparent French discussions since my dad moved from Houma to Abbeville before I was born. He learned English in school.

I have about a 100 word Cajun French vocabulary with zero speaking skills.

My wife understands it well but has very little speaking skills.

She can say things like C’est pa Bon or C’est tout Bon

I can some. Been practicing with a friend at work. It brings back good memories and the more I practice the more it comes back to me.

Then there is the added bonus of being able to talk with no one around knowing what you're saying.

I’ve been practicing lately also. Heading across the big pond to the motherland in May.

Amazing how a thread about Hud turned into a thread on the origins of milk/coffee and cultural differences. Love it!!

Did that several years ago. Was able to get by but every now and then had to say "Whoa. Slow down. You're speaking too fast.".

Grew up in Norco and for my mom it was milk coffee. I guess you could use milk coffee when you're small and there is more milk than coffee, and change it to coffee milk as you get older and have more coffee than milk. Cafe Aulet, while i really like it, was not what I had at home.
