He will have two years. I don't think he is a 7' guy but I believe he is taller than 6'9".

It has been confirmed there is another addition to the team. JC Center named Stalcup (may have misspelled name) has enrolled in school and is attending classes. This is the guy who we signed in 2015 but he did not qualify. He has now become eligible. This may be significant as we now have four "bigs" on the team. How much he can contribute or how good of a player he will be is something I have no idea about.

If he can make layups, pass the ball effectively out of the post, and set hard screens that will help offensively

His fans would not want to see his FT shooting percentage if he practiced daily at the UL practice facility.

Again Turbine, because I ask this of you. Have you ever played basketball in a competitive environment? Because I can tell you, the "depth perception" is the last thing you are thinking about when you are in front of fans in a game situation sitting at the foul line and I have no idea what its like to play live in front of TV audiences but I can promise you, the depth perception is not what was killing Shaq's FT percentages. As a matter of fact, FT's were the only thing I was able to adjust to quite easily in the cajundome when we played there.

I'll take a 7 footer who is a good utility player and wants to rebound, pass and set screens and just do the all around dirty work that not many people want to do. If he has any type of athleticism whatsoever, he could be a nice contributor in many of those ways.

Bringing in a replacement is not even remotely being considered by anyone who counts (administration folks) at this stage. After 3 consecutive winning seasons, that will be the case after this season no matter how poorly they do. They were winning seasons when only D1 games are considered as well. Of course the last two seasons were winning ones by a narrow margin and I won' t argue those results do not mirror the potential this program should have. Another reason no change will be made after this season is the three transfers. I doubt the program would have made that move without having some confidence they have some security. I am not saying you guys who want more do not have valid arguments. What I am saying is that no matter how many times folks here suggest a change should be made, it has no impact on decision makers in this regard.

Mike, we are well beyond _____ing about a change. When you are getting extensions after marginal seasons and pay raises, its understandable that his security here is solidified. My biggest problem is not his retention but, again, the rewarding financially of mediocre seasons.

He did not get an extension nor a raise after last season. Very few would have supported such a move.

I just hate the thought of jumping the gun.( I know some of you feel like it is past time!) Making the wrong hire can set a program back years. I'm ok with being patient with mediocrity for a time if it is building to bigger and better things.

Where is the "building" part of this though? What signs are present that show something is "building"?

I agree "the "depth perception" is the last thing you are thinking about" this is because what you see is not reality as you know it.

Depth perception anomalies are distortions of distance. Your eyes say one thing and thousands of hours of practice tell your muscles how much juice to put on the ball. Hours of practice is supposed limit the things have to "think" about, you just "do." Problem is when your eyes lied to you. The article mentions "kinesthetic memory" this changes with every variation of distance you are from the goal. If your eyes are telling you the wrong distance all you kinesthetic memory is suddenly of less value.

Venues make a difference.



As soon as the player starts "thinking" about the problem he is in even bigger trouble.

That is correct. I'm told Stalcup signed a few weeks ago (a source reached out to tell me at the time, but I never got the message; my phone is so old it's apparently not saving all my texts). My story from when Stalcup originally signed in April 2015:
