-Their name is the University of Texas at Austin
-Their name is the University of Tennessee at Knoxville
-Their name is the University Of Arkansas at Fayetville
-Their name is The University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa
-you ARE correct, our formal, official name is The University of Louisiana ... at Lafayette. And Athletically we are the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. As the others are the Texas Longhorns, the Tennessee Volunteers, the Arkansas Razorback and the Alabama Crimson Tide. It's legal and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it. You are going backwards because of budget problems while we are growing. You need to be worrying about how your athletic department is going to overcome a 900,000 thousand dollar shortfall.

For academic, public relations, ATHLETIC, as well as other purposes not specified, the use of the
University of Louisiana abbreviation must always include the abbreviation for the
municipal location of the institution. For example, ULR is appropriate for University
of Louisiana at Rayne.
By the spirit and intent of this law, all references to your university should include a municipal designation. Else, why even write this law?
