Luke Johnson saying the staff is not confirming the transfer yet.
Even though Davis re-tweeted the original poster.
And hasn't denied it.
There is only two reasons to red shirt in basketball. You are either hurt or ineligible. If you red shirt to develope then you aren't good enough.
Fourth reason. There are upperclassmen in front of you and you will not play many minutes. In the 2000-01 season, three true freshman played sparing minutes behind upperclassmen returning from the 2000 NCAA tourney team. Those three freshmen were: Brady Boyd, Antoine Landry and Laurie Bridges. Had Jesse redshirted those guys, the 04-05 team would have had Tiras Wade, Dwayne Mitchell, Orien Greene, Chris Cameron, Brian Hamilton, Antoine Landry, Brady Boyd, and Laurie Bridges.
Not saying that case applies here. I'm just making the observation.
The 2 players I remember that would have most benefitted from red shirting are Antione Landry and Tyren Johnson. Both played sparingly as frosh and flourished their senior years. Tyren might have worked his way into the draft
Y'all are talking about 3 or 4 players in 10-12 years ago. We red shirt a kid now and he either isn't good enough or leaves.
Consider the talent then and the talent now.
Long would've been the only one on last year's team seeing time on the court on that team.
