Consider the talent then and the talent now.

Long would've been the only one on last year's team seeing time on the court on that team.
I know you don't want to get a bad rep about allowing transfers, but sometimes you should not agree such transfers. Is this such a case, and does the NCAA back the schools more than the players? The kid might think twice about sitting two years.
I'm doubting Davis did this without illegal influence.
I know there is a rule. It's appealed and often overturned.
If he does leave, he will go the JUCO route. I am fairly certain that is the case. A release is not necessary to go there. There are several junior colleges in Mississippi which is closer to his home. He probably thinks he can play there one year and then get an offer from a higher profile program. If that occurs, he could play three years. Keep in mind for that to occur, he has to graduate from that JC with a 2.5 GPA. The 2.5 requirement is a new NCAA rule. It used to be simply graduating was enough to move on. He is probably thinking the credits he earns from his one year here will transfer to a JC and he is probably right about that.
Does the JUCO route negate a 2nd year if Marlin doesn't approve a transfer. I understand the JUCO itself doesn't require Marrlin, but what about that 2nd year?
If you go to a JUCO, your original school has no influence on you thereafter. You can go to a D1 school in the 2nd year after you transfer with no penalty.
I wish our HC would transfer.
Still haven't heard anything about it and no solid source yet....
No one is going on record with the press, but one thing is certain right now, it's not official and they are trying to convince him to stay in the program. So we will find out after exams if he is done at UL or not. If he is done, look for him to enroll in a JC probably close to home in Mississippi. He would then need to graduate and could have 3 years of eligibility to play D1 basketball.
