Proud of the accomplishments over the past few weeks but let's keep it all in perspective:

Georgia Southern (74-65) overall record 6-11
Georgia State (87-54) overall record 12-5
South Alabama (92-82) overall record 7-12
    Troy (88-65) overall record 6-13

Georgia State's 12 victories are over:
    Middle Georgia State
    Emmanuel College
    IUPUI
    at Wright State
    Old Dominion
    at Southern Miss
    Middle Tennessee
    at Texas State
    Troy
    South Alabama
    ULM
    Georgia Southern

UL is now 9-8 with the following wins (as listed on the Sun Belt website) :
    Louisiana College 108-68
    Loyola (NO) 106-62
    McNeese State 97-64
    New Orleans 79-69
    Appalachian State 79-58
    Georgia Southern 74-65
    Georgia State 87-54
    South Alabama 92-82
    Troy 88-65

While I'd love to get some big wins against major schools.... how's this for "perspective":

    1. We are in a 3-way tie for 3rd in the conference.
    2. Georgia State has their Arkansas State/Little Rock trip this week/weekend. Having beaten them earlier this season, whichever way that trip turns out could be very good for us.
    3. UT Arlington will go to Monroe first, then will come to us on Saturday. Monroe is undefeated at home this season, so that may help to beat them up a bit before we get them.

I think we all agree we are playing much better now than we were earlier this month. Whatever was going on before, it appears we have "clicked". I like our chances, both in the regular season and the tournament.

Whining about who we've beaten and how they really aren't that good is useless self-flagellation at this point.

And at this point in our lives shouldn't we be done with useless self-flagellation?

Here's the problem. Who you beat is important. We're didn't beat the GSU of previous years. We've lost to ULMOST, LTUR. Both ok programs at this point hardly outstanding.

We've beaten one of the top four programs in the SBC. This isn't a new thing. Bob Marlin's teams have always gotten better with weaker SBC teams.

He's got an opportunity to get into a race for the lead. He's still running tied for third or fifth place. I'm glad we're beating the bad teams. God help us if we didn't.

Sure, sure. All I mean is this: at this point in the season, looking at the non-conference teams and RPIs, etc., doesn't mean didley. As you pointed out, the question is can we make a run for the conference championship and tournament championship to go dancing. Whether the teams we beat have good or bad RPIs or have weak schedules at this point can't be helped.

Well it does kind of matter. Your RPI has a lot to do with seeding. Don't you want a reasonable shot at an upset if we're fortunate enough to get to the NCAA?

Being a fifteen seed wouldn't help that. Everyone knows we cannot control much. I'm thinking that your original comment was implying we were far better than our record. We ain't, we're about what our record is. A middle of the pack team in a bad conference, maybe a upper tier bad conference but bad none the less.

Not what I intended. I merely meant that at this point, the only difference it makes is in big dance placement. We have to play conference games, can't get out of that.

But we have to get into the tournament first. As far as that is concerned... RPI means little to nothing. Gotta win the conference tournament. And given what I've seen, that is not beyond the realm of possibilities.

Well we're agreed Cajuns have to play great for the tournament. If helps if you're well seeded in the SBC tournament

Lil'rock was delt a devestating blow going forward losing their best player for the season.

Who did LR lose? Are you sure you are not talking about UTA?

UTA lost their leading scorer and rebounder in Kevin Harvey he was nearly a double double guy.

18.1 points and 9.8 boards per game. I think you are confused, unless LR lost someone.
