Transfers were not the cause of the APR problem, the wholesale dismissal of transfers was the problem.
Unless Walker had a hand in the debacle, why would he praise Lee throughout the A.P.R. nightmare?
This river of players through the program was not a problem under Evans and Schexnayder. But suddenly a D1 coach in Lee's position suddenly gets the bright idea of his own volition, "I can do this with nothing but High School players? There was nothing in his coaching pedigree to suggest that this was remotely possible.
This was a drastic step induced by his boss when he took the helm with the edict to clean up the basketball program.
A few years later Walker said APR was confusing. I don't think he gave it any thought (or understood the outcome) when he first had Lee flush the players.
I don't think this was Lee's idea and is why Walker praised his actions.
