I agree with the decision. There is no reason to loose an entire year of eligibility for a potential starting DB with only 3 remaining games for a 4-5 team, regardless of the slight Bowl chances.

What injury? He has been held out for NCAA clearinghouse issues and violation of team rules. 2013, true freshman, 2014 true sophomore, 2015 redshirt, 2016 redshirt junior,2017 5th year senior. They obviously didn't redshirt him in 2014, he sat out and used a year of eligibility. If he played this year in the remaining games it would be as a true junior and would then have 2 years to play 1. So redshirt him, has 2 years left.

He did not play in 14,not a down. Now he won't play in 15, not a down. So he plays 13, 16, 17. How come he cannot play 13, 15, 16, 17. Something is missing from the equation. Maybe he played in 14 and was not documented on his bio.

So take a guy out who has been playing, doing everything he supposed to do and replace him with a guy who hasn't seen live action since bowl game against Tulane? If you play him now, he looks like rusty ___ and burn a year what's the point? Or you hedge your bets and have him for 2 years. I agree with coach %100 percent on this. You don't burn a year to work in a backup for 3 games.

Dude, have you not seen our cornerbacks getting run by almost every down. The only reason we don't have more 50 yard completions is poor throws by the quarterbacks. Thomas can keep up, and he has length. Without Thomas we may as well volunteer to not bowl in 2015.

Of course we will never know if he could help, but as NMSU throws for 400 plus yards remember the players we have just are not capable of stopping the passing game. They either play too soft and get killed underneath, as USA did, or play tight and get burned as USA did. We had many 3rd and longs vs USA and they made almost every one with a 12 yard sideline.

Pride, I love your devotion. Too bad Hud has proven he CAN make boneheaded decisions as well as good ones.

You need to know Hud's biggest asset as a coach is as a motivator. He has consistently made mistakes on players and schemes. Sometimes he corrects them, and sometimes he gets pigheaded, ala Nixon as a throwing quarterback.

We will get lit up in the passing game vs NMSU, we may win the game, but we will get lit up.

have you seen Thomas play a down in 2 years? I watched our true freshman WR leave him holding his jock in the fall, im excited about Thomas but to think he would step in Saturday and be Charles Tillman is crazy. id rather have him for 2 more years, burning a year for the sake of doing it is short sighted. Hud has a history of bringing guys back very slowly. I think this is 100% the right decision.
