5 years to play 4 must play into this somehow.
What injury? He has been held out for NCAA clearinghouse issues and violation of team rules. 2013, true freshman, 2014 true sophomore, 2015 redshirt, 2016 redshirt junior,2017 5th year senior. They obviously didn't redshirt him in 2014, he sat out and used a year of eligibility. If he played this year in the remaining games it would be as a true junior and would then have 2 years to play 1. So redshirt him, has 2 years left.
I think we all assumed he was redshirted in 2014 and he wasn't.
They must have some info or the NCAA have stated that he may be able to get an additional year since he was cleared eligible. He had to sit out through no fault of his own.
Coach Hud wants to win now. He is aware of how good a student Thomas has become. If he thinks it is better to have 2 full years, I have to agree. Case Closed!
I agree with the decision. There is no reason to loose an entire year of eligibility for a potential starting DB with only 3 remaining games for a 4-5 team, regardless of the slight Bowl chances.
