Nixon has never started a game, and we all know playing a whole game is much more difficult than stepping in when the defense game planned for someone else.
You're overcomplicating the debate! If global warming is a given by measuring the rectal temperature of a pregnant polar bear... we sure as heck can predict the best QB for our 2015 football team. Anyway... everyone knows that our next QB will be whoever Oprah likes the most... as long as Steven Colbert approves. It really isn't that complicated...

He has played in 10 games where he tallied passing stats. Only 3 of those games did he throw more than 10 passes. In all 3 of those games, we left with an L. He absolutely didn't lose those games, but he didn't pull us through to a W. The one game he started, we got destroyed by South Al. Again, he didn't lose that game, but also didn't win it for us. He's made some great passes. He's made some easy passes. I recall one heave that Riles made a highlight catch on. When it's all said and done, he threw 6%/13% of the passes that Broadway threw in 2013/2014. That is a very small sample size in actual game experience. I really wish he would have gotten more mop up time this year.
Excellent post, and it's a drum I've been beating for a while. If he wins the job, fantastic. It's what I'm hoping for. But at this point, we still don't know what we have in either Haack or Nixon because of the extremely limited sample size, due largely in part to how durable Broadway ended up being, which kept them from getting many meaningful snaps.

Being an "athelete" or dual threat quarterback doesn't translate we'll for most in the nfl over time.Eventually nfl defenses figure out that player. Look at RG3's play in college to the pros, or even Johnny manziel.

Before you and others here anoint the kid the next coming of Montana, at least let him actually start and lead a team to a win. While he's looked good in spot duty, he has not prepared, practiced and led his team to one victory on the field as a starter. His only attempt to do so was a complete failure. How do you know he goes through his progressions any better than Broadway did anyhow? Were you watching his eyes as he threw a ball? I love how some just assume he does this like they are Jaworski or something and break down his film.

I think we should all thank Broadway for his time here and what he was able to help us accomplish. The guy was a winner and a consistent one. Sure, I would have loved to have had Broadway from 2012 play this year but he still have a pretty good year and wasn't asked to do what he did then since he had two all conference running backs. Also, please understand that in 2012 he had guys named Lawson, Peoples, Robinson and Surgent to throw to.

Now, moving on, don't forget about a guy named Dion Ray. He reminds me a lot of Blaine Gautier when coming out of high school but perhaps an even better runner and overall athlete. Similar size but a kid that could possibly be in that mix although i would assume he would eventually get a redshirt.

I will still be shocked if we sign Dion Ray. He is a clone of McGuire. If we do sign him I'd be shocked if he ends up at QB.

I don't think there is any way we will go to a conventional pro style offense next year. Having said that, if Haack is the starter, which he truly has the lead on, then I suspect we would still be a spread team but with a heavier emphasis on balance. I just hope we can incorporate some different runs that get McGuire and others in space rather than the dive.

Please enlighten me why you would be shocked if he plays QB? I'm not saying that he couldn't be moved to another position but if you can play the position you can play it, Gautier proved people wrong who thought he was too short

Haack can run, he isnt broadway or Dez but he isnt van cleave either. He is more than athletic enough to pick up first downs and pick up big gains on designed runs. I dont see why people think he is a statue or something. I think the best guy will win the job, the coaches want to win more than we do and i would imagine they will go with who they think gives them the best chance.
