I don't think there is any way we will go to a conventional pro style offense next year. Having said that, if Haack is the starter, which he truly has the lead on, then I suspect we would still be a spread team but with a heavier emphasis on balance. I just hope we can incorporate some different runs that get McGuire and others in space rather than the dive.

if we sign him, its because he will be playing qb

Please enlighten me why you would be shocked if he plays QB? I'm not saying that he couldn't be moved to another position but if you can play the position you can play it, Gautier proved people wrong who thought he was too short

Haack can run, he isnt broadway or Dez but he isnt van cleave either. He is more than athletic enough to pick up first downs and pick up big gains on designed runs. I dont see why people think he is a statue or something. I think the best guy will win the job, the coaches want to win more than we do and i would imagine they will go with who they think gives them the best chance.

I want J. Davis, D. Populist, D. Ray, J. Nixon, and B. Haack to all get on the field and compete this offseason. May the best QB win, and hopefully those who don't will contribute heavily to Cajun wins...be it at another position, coming in as a backup if need be, running the scout team, etc. All of these guys have ability, and this is an excellent "problem" to have.

    Prepare to be shocked.

Because he will step on the field and be the 2nd or 3rd best athlete on the team. You do not waste that type of talent at our level riding the pine.

You missed my sarcasm. I'm in the Haack camp 100%. I'll be disappointed if he doesn't win the competition this spring. It will either be him or Jordan Davis who starts next year.

For those using the Fenroy argument...Fenroy might not have had the yards he did without Desmo and Babb BUT McGuire is not Fenroy. I loved Fenroy but he is in no way comparable to the talent McGuire has. I won't even listen to an opinion in which anyone thinks Fenroy is in the same stratosphere as McGuire.

With that said I don't care who the QB is, as long as we win.
The crazy thing is all these people sounding like Haack is the next coming of Jake. Jake was a great passer but that didn't necessarily open up things for the running game. I saw Jake be very good as a true freshman. I saw Haack start one game as a true freshman against So. Al. and so many are ready to crown him QB. I hope to goodness we have someone better or it will be an awfully long year.

Ray is on track to become a Cajun due to one thing....playing QB. That's why he's a solid commit and not on one of the many SEC/Big XII teams that are courting him. Now-Grades are the deciding factor

But what if that type of talent makes him the best QB on the field?

I assumed that his committed was brought about by him being assured a shot as a QB here.
