Lots of those seats are not only for fans, but big donors. It would be in our best interest, financially, not to fart in their Cheerios.
Secondly, the game time was changed Thursday, and I was not aware of it until Thursday afternoon around 5. Id be willing to bet a majority of people found out around the same time I did, on the ride home after work. Thursday is the new Friday these days and most people probably had their weekends planned out by the time they saw the game change. Sometimes ish happens, if we would have won today all of this would be a non issue. It's deferred frustration in my opinion...
I bought two tickets on the side opposite the press box this year. I use those as give aways to people who ask me for tickets. The only reason I bought those is because the chairbacks on the press box side were sold out. There are many seats around me that are never used the entire season. Most of those seats are long time big money supporters of the University but don't go to the games.
Totally related.
Kicking the students out of the traditional Red Zone was silly bordering on stupid. The move slowly but surely hurt student attendance.
It also stopped the new end zone bowl from filling up.
It killed the passion behind the opponents bench.
And while it is a stretch it may have cost UL a win vs LA Tech and App State. I say that because I know for a fact that the student section has rattled opponents in the past, so it may not be as big of a stretch at that.

I don't think any of that is true.
That's one thing that made Cajun Field a difficult place to play. The opposing team was surrounded by students and could not get away from them. You could see players and students jawing at one another. Now, the players can just sit further down on the bench. While I'm all for making money by selling those seats, we lost a great tradition and good advantage in the process.
The thing is, there are some people on the first row of the new season ticket section who tried to keep the tradition alive and jaw at the players. Unfortunately, a few fans complained and the game day staff told them they couldn't yell at the players anymore. I couldn't beleive what I was hearing.
I see a lot more empty seats on the student side than the home side. I thought I had the answers to why we don't fill our stadium any better than what we do but I realized its a guessing game at this point. I walked outside at halftime to get something out of my truck and couldn't tell you how many people I saw sitting in groups at their tailgate just drinking and having a good ole time. Why even go to cajun field if you aren't going to go in?
UL beat Arkansas State this year and they were "rattled", even went after a guy's knee at the end. How "rattled" was Arkansas State in 2012 when the students were behind them and UL got destroyed?
It's about the other side of the stadium and our players being ready to play, a few idiots yelling at the opposing team pales in comparison to Hud and crew getting them ready to play.
