Once you delete that school subsidy from the revenues you see that your school's revenues from its athletic program fell short of expenses by $8.2 million while McNeese's revenues fell short of expenses by $4.4 million. And that was during a very good year for your school's athletic program.

Its $8.2 million in advertising dollars.

Yes I remember that on the McNeese board and responded to it. There is an element of the McNeese fan base that wants to see McNeese go FBS. I completely disagree with that. There is this perception that going FBS improves a school's financial situation and it's just not true. The basic picture is that if you're not in (now) the "Big 5" conferences in FBS schools in FBS generally lose more money on their athletic programs than schools in FCS do. An example is provided by the 2013 numbers from the college athletic programs database at http://www.usatoday.com/sports/colle...ools/finances/ for your school and for McNeese. Bowl games? I don't know what the heck that means. More than half the teams in FBS go to bowl games. Going to a bowl game does not mean a team is "good" in the context of FBS. I'm not saying this just to aggravate you either. I'm saying the same thing I say on the McNeese board when people bring up wanting McNeese to go FBS with the post season hope being going to something like the New Orleans Bowl. Using the Sagarin ratings because they're easily accessible and give at least some idea: The 2011 New Orleans Bowl matched the team that finished 65th in FBS and the team that finished 77th. The 2012 New Orleans Bowl matched number 61 and number 80. The 2013 New Orleans Bowl matched 77 and 84.

I understand that a lot of people like that. But I don't. I'm in the minority for sure. But seeing the team I'm pulling for shoot for getting into games like that in the post season is not what I want.

Look at the teams on their schedule....Incarnate Word, Abilene Christian, Prairie View, Arkansas Tech. Seriously, these may be fine schools but I had no idea that they even had football teams. Hard to get 8K to attend games with that kind of schedule. Sounds like a D-III lineup.

And there is my ____ing problem with you and all your Brokeback buddies, Johnstonge. I've no problem with you deciding what is best for your school, but from the inception of the D1A /D1aa split you _____ have been trying to dictate what you think is best for our school. Frankly, I don't give a rat's ___ what you think is best for our school. Our fan base has decided playing at the highest level period, D1A, is where we want to be. And we have steadfastly supported that effort despite obstacles your administration tried to throw our way as well as the self inflicted obstacles of our previous administration. And now we are reaping the benefits of that perseverance.

So save your self-serving logic for your own fanbase and spare us your lectures, we've been hearing this same old song from you for decades. We didn't buy it then and we sure aren't buying it now.

Ha! When Broussard coached there in the early 2000's my son and I made many trips to watch them play. Folks treated us well. All nice guys. None delivered pizza!

McNeese isn't competing at a high level amongst the best... being in the FCS. All you want is company, Misery.

We are enjoying ourselves profusely right now and you guys are jealous. McNeese wishes they had our current situation. We are on the rise. We're recruiting lights out, and we haven't even broke the ribbon on the first phase of our new facilities. Our ladies go to the WCWS (only in state), MBB goes to the NCAAs (only in state), men's baseball is ranked number 1 and host a super (only in state)... and our football team has three straight bowl wins in their pocket. Our preseason ranking places us in a very respectable position in the FBS. Some publications see us as the potential recipient of a much loftier bowl this year (whether you comprehend bowls or not). One of our bowls was ranked as one of the most exciting of the year. We had people all over the country rooting for the Cajuns (and still do).

And I hate to say it... but if McNeese is losing money when it doesn't appear you're spending a nickel on improvements... it isn't time to consider FCS to FBS... It's time to consider dropping football.


Now... if you didn't like my suggestion... keep yours to yourself next time.
