Thread: Tail Gate Spot Parking Policy (merged)

I must be the only one that is happy that they are going to enforce the no parking vehicles in tailgating spots. I don't see the big deal. Go to Lowes and buy one of those heavy duty wagons. Drop off your gear during the drop off hours, park your truck in the gravel lot or a spot nearest your tailgate spot, and use the wagon to bring what ever you want to lock up 30 minutes before game time. That is what we have been doing for years. According to the rules, you can leave your covered trailers in the tailgate spot, just nothing with an engine. I have seen too many times cars trying to get into the tailgate area after 1:00 and kids almost getting hit. I dont see what the big deal is. The only problem I have is the timing of the announcement. The Sky is not falling. I seem to remember everyone on here ____ing and moaning about the tag only parking and how it would never work. Seems to be working OK to me.

They shut it down at 1pm last year.

    What's the difference?

I'd like to touch on this a bit and get other people's point of view.

    1) I have not and still do not agree with the parking pass punch process. This is not very practical if you have little ones and/or if someone would need to leave and come back for any reason past the given time that they are not punching tags. Now with the TG passes not being allowed to park in D, this will limit families to a single pass dependent upon your RCAF donation level.

    2) Understanding the overall goal of growth, I also see the "small consumer" being priced out of the market in years to come. Some of these "small consumers" could have been the building blocks that got us where we are today. Heart does not pay the bills, but money does not always come back.

Less cars in tailgaiting area means more room/ease of movement for tailgaiters/fans. I see this as an overall improvement to the game experience.

If you can leave your utility trailer in the tailgate area, then that addresses most of the complaints. But you are the first to mention that utility trailers will be allowed today, are you sure that is correct? That is not what I heard yesterday, but it may be that some were overly excited about the change that they failed to read the letter correctly.

People keep saying just bump up tailgating prices. I believe increasing tailgating prices to make more $$$ could be handled two ways to match the current parking situation:

A (the old way) - 1 person (with financial help from tailgating friends) pays $650 tailgate spot fee and comes with 1 C-Lot parkig pass and 2 TG passes and they shuffle passes amongst themselves. Only 1 name is on RCaf list and 3 vehicles are allowed entry to Cajun Field for parking.

B (current way) - 1 person pays $250 rcaf fee for tailgating spot and includes 1 D-Lot pass and 2 TG passes. It now takes 2 different buddies joining rcaf at $250 each to park w/in Cajun Field. You now have 2 additional members of the rcaf, but still have 3 vehicles parking.

I would think 2nd option would be the preferred route. The same amount of money is raised, yet more names on the RCAF list. More people receiving emails, more people allowed at rcaf parties like this weekend. Not to mention, you don't need the head honcho to get postseason tickets, etc.

I thought 'winning cures all'. Seems like we have more problems.

There were cars in the Tailgate area that would leave after 1 pm. No car, no possible way to leave.

Unfortunately, if the "small consumers" are catered to, we will always be a building block...

From Cajun Athletics: Trailers will still be allowed inside the TG spots. However, vehicles will not be allowed back into TG spaces until it is deemed safe by parking enforcement.
