Tracking the Draft Stock of Louisiana's Elfrid Payton

I hope somebody reminds him to speak of us as Louisiana and UL like Charles Tillman does.

Would you just give the kid one day to enjoy the fruits of all his labor? Thursday is going to be his day, not a recruiting extravaganza for UL.

I would expect for him to speak favorably of his time at UL and give back to the program throughout his career, but he doesn't owe it to us on Thursday. Let the guy celebrate.

I would hope that a 20 year kid will do what he wants to do on the biggest day of his life. There's more important things in life than the name of our school.

EP loved his time here. He will be a great ambassador of our University.

I have mixed emotions about him going to the Lakers. I rarely pull for that organization due to their financial advantages. However if he went there and they return to their winning ways due somewhat to his contribution, he would get lots of recognition and indirectly our basketball program would as well.

I might be crazy, but I feel like EP is a lot like Kawai Leonard when he was coming out. Not a polished shooter but does everything well. EP obviously the better passer. I think of EP as the PG version of Kawai.

Because of Payton's leadership and overall play at the point guard position, the Ragin' Cajuns made a surprise appearance in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, as they knocked off favored Georgia State in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship game.

In the last couple of weeks, former UL point guard Elfrid Payton is climbing up a lot of draft boards before Thursday's NBA Draft.

Payton was projected to be an early second-round pick when he declared for the draft following his junior year with the Ragin' Cajuns. But after attending the NBA Draft Combine last month and working out for several teams, the 6-foot-2 point guard has now moved to either a mid-first-round pick, and could sneak into the lottery.

Payton established one of the nation's top inside-outside duos with Shawn Long at Louisiana and quickly became a known commodity for the Ragin' Cajuns. Although Payton is certainly an offensive threat and one of the best pure point guards in the college ...

Not "should", only a suggestion. He already said he came from a "small school", but wouldn't let that bother him, as they are all out of college and will be playing at the same level now.
