"Shovels still are not yet in the ground. ... UL athletic director Scott Farmer said through McCann on Monday that the program still does not have a specific date for when actual construction will begin, but that Cajun officials have been “given a deadline” of March 1 to clear areas where the work will be."

    Seriously?!!!

But in this case that is not necessarily bad ... they have turned over the reins to construction management to the firm out of Atlanta ... they are the ones that will be getting the specific dates.

Now if they can't say ... that is bad news!

I wouldn't read too much into that, more than likely it's just the logistics of the construction company. Basically don't worry about when we start just make sure all your ____ is out of our way by March 1st

Getting started depends on when the first sub in is finished with the job he is currently on. You know the old saying, "It's not how you start it's how you finish". Getting started is typically the hard part because of mobilization logistics. If the University has to get everything out by March 1, I would suspect that we should see things moving pretty good right after Mardi Gras (March 4).

He's somewhat lying and somewhat telling the truth. He sees the same schedule that Lemoine gives out to their subs, architects, and consultants.

The last word around the beginning of February was it's about a 10 day window at the beginning of March for mobilization. If UL/Carter is slow in returning comments to the DD package and subsequently delays issuing of the CDs and ultimately the bid, then of course that date can change.

I'm thinking they are talking about a DD package for the addition to the IPF. If they are just reviewing a DD package for the stadium there is no way they are ready to start. They should have had the Bid Package for the stadium done and finished a long time ago.

The latest schedule I saw had the time frame I posted. With the bid time going into early March. The project is being fast tracked so I'm sure any of those bidding on the job have already seen the Schematic Design and Design Development packages and are familiar with the work to be performed.

It's pretty typical of Lemoine to let their short list of bidders see the pre-CD docs if they want a accelerated bid cycle.

This is all about UL athletics. Therefore, it's not when or how we start that is important, it's when and how we finish that is important!!! Just win the construction battle!!!

Oh My. They are further behind then I thought. Somebody is going to have to bust their butt to get some steel ordered, cut and bent unless they have made some other arrangements to pre-order. A steel supplier would not cut or bend unless a firm order was in hand.

I think with all of the architects, designers, engineers, construction guys, etc. posting on RP every day, the University should have contacted the Ragin Pagin posters. This construction would have been done yesterday.
