LA is for those rare statistics references when 2-4 characters are needed.
Believe me, if push came to shove, I'd be giddy about LA in comparison to UL-L.
In statistical situation where only 2 letters can be used, U of Alabama is AL and U. of Georgia is GA, right? Would be UGA or ALA when 3 letters can be used. LA is ok, for the University of Louisiana. No one here would like it now but if Cajuns program really became universally known as Louisiana, what everyone wants, then a 3 letter abbreviation would be ULA, like Georgia is UGA.
How can you say that with any degree of certainty?
UVA is University of Virginia. School is in Charlottesville.
The GA in UGA can very well stand for Georgia just as the VA in UVA stands for Virginia, and just as the LA in ULA could stand for Louisiana.
If that were the case though, then I believe ULA would not be allowed as a shortened reference because it would be just as "illegal" (lol) as UL.
Are they still around?
Might just be mobile but it looks like they haven't updated their site since 2009.
