How can you say that with any degree of certainty?
UVA is University of Virginia. School is in Charlottesville.
The GA in UGA can very well stand for Georgia just as the VA in UVA stands for Virginia, and just as the LA in ULA could stand for Louisiana.
If that were the case though, then I believe ULA would not be allowed as a shortened reference because it would be just as "illegal" (lol) as UL.
Are they still around?
Might just be mobile but it looks like they haven't updated their site since 2009.

First I do not think we can name ourselves anything else than what we are now, unless we changed it to the geographic area.
I guess you think it would be cute to be LSU just as an aggravation to them, but you cannot be LSU because LSU was smart enough to copyright those letters unlike us with Ragin'Cajuns.
