Yeah, I assume he left with the basketball team this afternoon. If he did go to Martin Hall, I'd guess it was this morning.

Dr. Savoie is taking his marching orders from the politicians and the regents ... he does have an opinion, but not the power to change the name ... after all, his path to the presidency was through politics & appointments and not teaching, research, and academics. He works behind the scenes and did not have anything to give or take.
I'm really happy with Jay for writing this article. It's so difficult for us to get any representation as fans. I give Jay a hard time about some things, but for him to stand up for this issue makes me want to buy him a beer.
As much as I'm still irritated over this, 50% of the issue was a misrepresentation by the SBC. But the use of "UL-L" is a HUGE mistake in any capacity. That is strictly on UL. And T-Joe represents everyone at UL. He should take this personally, and handle it.
I'm not sure, if we do accomplish walking it back, that we won't leave the ugly footprints behind. There's a chance this can be walked back cleanly. I would like to think that T-Joe talks to a solid group of intelligent UL people as to how this should be handled, and get this straightened out personally with Benson, immediately.
Even if they changed it now, the damage is done. If by some miracle they change it to ULA or LA, it will still take a long time to make up for that ____ that the SBC put out on Thursday. Personally, I say just change it to LA instead of ULA. It's consistent with our "Louisiana" brand. ULA is not and will receive a heavier resistance than LA IMO
When you have an issue you want solved, you should form a committee of all the stakeholders, get input and buy in from the group so that a consensus is formed. Then and only then can you move forward. Of course the committee must include several from RP group. Otherwise, you have rebellion. That's the problem - NO INPUT from the community.
maybe because only about 100 people in a metro area of 200k actually care enough to spend more than a few seconds of thought on it.
most alumni have SLI or USL on thier degrees and still identify the university as such.
very few people outside of louisiana would know of UL-L....whereas most of the nation knows of the "ragin cajuns". so everyone in the administration and most on this board are missing the boat when it comes to effective marketing. three letter statistical abbreviation should be CAJ
