Thread: Jonathan Lucroy

  1. People Lucroy encourages Ragin' Cajuns

The UL football team was addressed by a special guest after Thursday’s practice, and even Ragin’ Cajuns coach Mark Hudspeth thought the whole deal was “pretty cool.”

The speaker: ex-Cajuns and current Milwaukee Brewers starting catcher Jonathan Lucroy, a Floridian whose fourth major-league season just recently came a close.

“I just wanted these guys to see that we’ve got a lot of people who have succeeded from here, who have gone on to do some great things,” Hudspeth said. “I wanted our guys, more than anything, to hear his message of, ‘Keep it real’ – about hard work, and humility.”

I hope Lucroy can stay for the game. I was at Tigue when he hit that first homer... great memories.

  4. People Letter from Jonathan Lucroy to UL athletes and fans:

After meeting with the UL football team following practice last Thursday, Jonathan Lucroy – former Ragin’ Cajuns and current Milwaukee Brewers starting catcher – delivered an open letter to Cajuns Director of Football Operations director Troy Wingerter.

Lucroy asked that his words be disseminated not only to UL football players, but to other Cajuns as well.

    It reads:

“I want to first say thank you for allowing me the honor of speaking to you...

Outstanding. We need more of our guys who go pro to give back like Jake, Peanut and Jonathan. Hell we need more of our alums, especially our successful alums period, to give back.

Oh crap, I read that at my desk overseas at lunchtime. Now I have to pretend I have something in my eye.

Really sincere message from a great athlete that I had the please of watching for like (3?) years.

    Thanks
    Jonathan

You mean instead of those successful alums who now like to pretend they attended school 45 miles East of Lafayette?

A really good start is guys like Lucroy holding other pros accountable. If Tillman said something polite like "Taylor is a great player, I just wish he would be a better Ragin' Cajun" before or after that Monday night game, it could make a big difference. Maybe Taylor is a good guy that just doesn't get it.

Worthy of being framed and placed on the wall somewhere in the indoor facility or every locker room.
