Houston one problem I see is that the lettermen club at the school to the East is called the "L" Club. If we started using L they would have a heart attack. Not that I care, but they would never allow that.

Hud will fly a helicopter and with one hand paint LOUISIANA!...I sure hope they are gonna reconsider putting Lafayette when you are reading the thing in Lafayette...
I can't speak to how they would view it, but using an "L" for Louisiana State is wrong unless it stands for Letterman. However, Ohio State uses just an "O" at times and there is no confusion with Ohio University. OK State uses an "O" sometimes and a lot of schools use various similar options. Since LSU doesn't use an "L" to identify itself except for lettermen, I wouln't think that would be a problem, or at least their problem and not ours. Sometimes we just have to take a stand.
For those of you that are local to the Lafayette area, you might want to check out the Betrand Drive water tower this week. We made the final decision for the location of the logos today. The top of the letters in "Lafayette" for the academic logo will be located at the top of the hand rail and will be partially obscured by the railing and supports. Everything else will be above the hand rail. The academic logo will face the Johnston Street/ Betrand Drive intersection.
The athletic logo will face the Bertand Drive/ Congress Street intersection. the bottom of the letters in "Cajuns" will be about 6" above the top of the hand rails.
If the weather holds they should be finished be the end of the week. I will post photos when we are finished.
Academic: LOUISIANA
Athletic: Ragin' Cajuns
We are working on the lighting for the tower as well. This will be installed once the painting is completed. I can't give a time frame, I'll just say as soon as possible.
These are the two logos which will be painted on the tower. As Helmut said the Fleur de Lis will be raised above the hand rail but the lafayette will be installed below the hand rail.
I don't have a problem with using the "at Lafayette". It makes sense. Hell, lets look at the University of Texas at Austin's academic website...they seem to have it everywhere except for the web address (www.utexas.edu).
All I know is...I type in www.louisiana.edu, it's not taking me to ULM's website. That would be www.ulm.edu.
