Default Bill Bentley makes instant impact

There was one major questioning entering the Detroit Lions' preseason home game against the Cleveland Browns.

Is Lions rookie cornerback Bill Bentley the real deal?

The early answer - and let me emphasis that word "early" - is yes.

I will now take this moment to not pat myself on the back, or give myself any tongue as Jim Rome used to say, for 100% RIGHTFULLY predicting this young man's future NFL ability after just one "practice", even though it was self-evident by virtue of his love for the game & workmanlike attitude mixed with a tremendous amount of self confidence. For me to brag about my extremely intuitive football skills would only be shamelessly self promoting & take away from the outstanding character traits I was able to see in this young man. I wouldn't do a thing like that. Would I J1M?

Just to let the people know. Hudsheen is one of the most faithfull followers of this team & a true top drawer talent evaluator. If this guy says watch out for so & so, you can pretty much count on that person making some kind of mark for this program barring injury. Are you going to the scrimage today? I am going to try to get the misses to let me go, but we already have a room in Morgan City & I might not get to make it.

Nope. That would be completely out of character for you, Kyle. If I've met a more humble man, I do not know. It hasn't gone unnoticed by me, that you never once, regardless of clear justification, credited yourself. When others attempt to credit your unparalleled pronosticative football savvy, you always hush them and deflect credit to the athletes themselves. Not once do you deservedly revisit your numerous predictive offerings... as so many other weaker men would... to sample the glorious nectar of self-righteousness. You instead... silently pass... taking none of the spoils warranted the victorious. I will not forget, Kyle. Let the old men tell the stories of your greatness long after you pass. You will have nothing to do with the adulation of your fellow lesser man. You will prompt no man to recall your exceptional skills of sports guessary. No, let others brag. Let others say "A toldjaso!". The small and unheralded can wallow around in the self-congratulatory world of characterless men... but not you. I will not forget, Kyle. I will not forget.
