Maybe we should offer to go back in a few weeks and take Va.Tech's place in the Sugar Bowl!!! HaHaHa!

They do because I am watching it on XBox LIVE right now.

    The ref calls us Louisiana

The guys in the booth think that Lafayette is somewhere north of New Orleans, OK it is but barely.

Double M.,... I am sooooo happy your son got to enjoy this feeling. i was at the Marrriott when the team departed for the Dome and thought what must these guys... especially the seniors.... be feeling right now.... after soo much negative things happening... they stuck it out and now they are reaping the rewards of their persistence and dedication... I tried to convey this as they were walking towards the buses yelling "Thank you" rather than "Lets win" or something like that... I am sure they had no idea what this old guy was trying to say... but it was just that....

I remember some threads in years past when I was coming down on the previous coaching staffs and administrations that you and some others felt I was being negative to the players.... I knew then that they deserved more.... And this past week they got it.. they got what they deserved....

In my opinion there is a singular appropriate time for the expression. That was it.

Somebody tapped me on the shoulder about 3 times from behind early in the game, and I ignored him. I stand because I'm legally blind and watching through binoculars. In the middle of plays, people stand up when they get excited (long punt returns, for instance, or long passes downfield). If I'm sitting, I miss the play. So I stand so I can see the game I paid to see. I won't apologize to anyone. There's a big fat HDTV right in front of you if you want to sit. I'll stand. I understand for health reasons, some people can't stand the whole game. For "health reasons" (my vision), I stand the whole game. Different perspective.

No, its not too late! ESPN was so over the top calling the school everything but the right name. Brands are born and developed. In many cases, they are registered, not just formal names, but anything and everything to do with the brand. You are protecting your turf, legally.
Saturday was a definate step backwards. Proof? Pull up any blog or site that has some sort of comment section. The casual fan on these sites as well as SDSU fans all refer to the school as La-Lafayette or Lafayette. Hell, even the coments in the Times-Pic, the overwhelming majority refered to the school as something other than what it is. The general public takes their que from the media. If the media can't get it right, then no one outside of the Lafayette area will, whether its athletics or academics. The whole point of the name change was to back away from the directional implications of "Southwestern". Instead, the directional componet is alive and well, thanks to ESPN and other national outlets.

We can keep sending e-mails and the SID can keep using the "What we want to be called" history lesson in each sports media guide or the school can take a more proactive approach and have a meeting with ESPN, Gannett, Fox sports, and whoever to get a point of educating those who make these production decisions at these national media outlets. Up till Saturday, you could feel that strides were being made, you heard more UL or Louisiana than the ULLA etc. Saturday was a huge, huge, step backwards.

Until UL decide to register- trademark the desired name/brand and defend it with legal muscle, this is going to continue to happen.

My son (7 years old) stood the whole game... when we hit the game winning field goal I grabbed him and hugged him tight.. i'll never forget that feeling.. total joy.. pure happiness.. he talked about us winning the whole way home.

It is so bad I am of the opinion the only reason they even say "Louisiana" AT ALL . . . is so the rest of the country won't confuse UL with all the Lafayette locations in Virginia, Alabama, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Missouri and New Hampshire

The person behind me asked me to sit down when I stood for the band coming on the field before the game. True story.
