Thread: Losing Hud to another Mid Major Unacceptable

  1. UL Football Re: Losing Hud to another Mid Major Unacceptable

The problem with increasing the price is that all those funds go to the general fund. RIght now there is zero fee for tickets between the 30 and the endzone. I suggest making them chairbacks, charging them some fee, and increase the 40-40 fee by some amount. That could also be include a ticket price increase, but again that is just an increase to the general fund.

I agree with that, Jerry; adding to the number of seats requiring a license fee is a good plan. Even if you don't upgrade the seating, you can still charge a smaller fee. Say $125 for chairbacks, $75 for non-chairbacks from 30-30 and $50 for all others. The big drawback with that is the increase in cost to corporate block buyers who have been getting blocks of GA season tickets for discounted prices.

$5 for student tickets, raise escort up to $15. Can't charge athletic tuition surcharge but you can (sort of) by making tickets a little more vs free. Still dirt cheap, this tinlkering would raise 100+k easily in a 6 game home schedule.

Make the two middle sections on student side chairbacks. Students still have a huge part of the East side, and with the south end zone being bowled it can expand this direction. Just move them over a bit for seats that command a value & raise funds needed dollars. 5k prime seats added at $30 x 6 games = $900k new revenue.

More than $900K.... some of those chairbacks would be sold as season tickets with a $100-$125 license fee in addition to the ticket price.

I'm all for taking away the student section and cashing in on that chairback real-estate as long as people don't sit on their hands, which I'm sure will just end up happening - successfully draining most of the energy from Cajun Field.

So LSU, BAMA, PENN STATE, and many other premium teams have that exact same seating arrangement. Student body in the or near the end zone making a huge difference when the opposition is in the red zone, and the hand sitters in the middle. Come on you cannot have it both ways. Nobody with a good program have students occuppying the 30-30 yard lines.

Our students pay for their seats in fees, but really at a huge discount.

I know one guy who could do it by himself and not lose a wink of sleep about it.
Would you lose a wink of sleep if you asked him??

I don't want this to sound the wrong way, but if the university is not charging an atheletic fee to students, then how are the students paying atheletic fees already? Students at Louisiana universities have some of the lowest tuitions in America & if a student resident passes TOPS they get their schooling for free. I do not like the idea of students getting charged an atheletic fee if they don't feel an association with sports. This would seem very counterproductive & is most likely what has caused students to rebel at other SBC schools.

But students who attend sporting events should be proud to be part of the support group. If ten dollars is killing your budget as a student, then you don't need to go to school, you need a job. If you already have a job, then you need to get a better one.
