Hahah rabble rabble...what musical selection will the band have prepared for the bowl. and will they play through out the huddle till we snap the ball? so the nation can watch how awesome that sounds lol
Oh I hope we wear all white. Tickets should go up $10 this year and $2-$5 per winning season until they reach $40-$50. If you slowly do it. the masses won't complain too much. hell the government does it with our taxes. RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE
So we want to keep HUD, outbid other mid major conferences but we don't want to raise ticket prices that would accomplish this? Our ticket prices rival what a high school charges and we are trying to compete with on arch larger scale. It seems there are always people who want everything without having to pay for it.
The big boys win National Championships and charge you $50-100/ticket, plus handling fees, athletic foundation fees, etc.... And we can't come up with an extra $10/ticket?
Read my post. I agree with an extra $10 a ticket. What I said was adding $20 a ticket all at once will chase off some of the fairweather fans.
And no I don't want anything for free. I understand our product on the field is DIRECTLY related to the money put into program, which is why I buy season tickets and donate to RCAF. But $20 a ticket all at once would not be a smart business move
Imo. However I a have an engineering degree from UL not a business degree so.....
Makes you wonder if the top 10% of RCAF donors wanted Hud.. .they could make it happen.
Also have we tapped into most of our corporate local businesses? Maybe getting more season tickets purchased that way etc etc.
When it comes to ticket prices, its simple accounting. Supply and Demand. We are paying $40-$65 per ticket for the New Orleans Bowl. Why because we want to be there and we are passionate about finally getting to a bowl game. If tickets were $50-75, 80% of us would still be there.
With that said, I think raising ticket prices is a good start to getting more money into the bank. I already pay $200 per seat and I am willing to pay $300 a seat to keep Hud. I remember the losing records. I NEVER want to go back to those days.
$20 dollars per ticket per game. That would put our upper deck 50 yard line tickets at $36 per ticket. Compared to what similar prime seats are at other stadiums that is still a bargain. Maybe if we do this we raise enough to be able to pay to keep Hud for the short term and attract similar good coaches in the future. If we have to worry about tuning away people who come to the game just to hang out with friends we should just hang it up.
In a perfect world I would agree with the incremental increase approach. We should have been doing that for several years but our old guard that gave us decades of mediocrity, the same folks who still respond to change with "that's not how we do it here", refused. Now we have our backs to the wall in attempts to participate in a bidding war to keep our successful coach. We need to have a huge infusion of cash now in order to keep this coach or hire a comparable replacement.
Scott alluded to the idea of prices increasing sometime back in an interview after he was named AD. I expect there to be a moderate price increase down the line on everything in football, and it is rightful to do so.
You may not "get what you pay for" (ie, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan lately) but, you definetly "don't get what you don't pay for"!
